Join us in-store on Feb 22nd with Tom Derry and filmmaker Chase White for a screening of "TOM: The friend fish deserve."Â After the film we will host a Q&A with Tom and Chase. In addition, Tom will chat with us about the Native Fish Society and how you can get involved.Â
About the film: Tom Derry is the connection between wild fish and the activists striving to protect them. A lifelong angler and the director of wild steelhead funding for the Native Fish Society, Tom embodies the commitment behind countless conservation efforts all with a single goal: more wild fish. Filmed along British Columbia’s Babine River, Tom captures the essence of angling for wild steelhead and provides insight into what motivates a motivator.

Drinks provided by Persephone Brewery, Coastal Cultures, and Nonny Beer. All proceeds from the evening will go to the Native Fish Society. Lots of great door prizes to be won!Â
An ardent steelhead and trout angler and committed conservationist, Tom owned and operated the Kokanee Café for 11 years on the banks of the Metolius River in Camp Sherman. During his time on the Metolius, Tom was very active in fish conservation on both the Metolius and Deschutes rivers and was very involved in stopping the stocking of trout in the Metolius and returning it to a river managed for wild fish.
Through his years as a restaurant owner and fishing addict who frequents the great haunts of the Pacific Northwest, Tom has met many people from wide walks of life who share his concerns for native fish. Tom’s many connections assist the Native Fish Society in growing its membership and financial base. In addition to his development duties, Tom serves as a NFS Molalla River Steward and is on the board of Molalla RiverWatch and the Molalla River Alliance.
Hello there! I'm a director, producer, photographer and design junkie in pursuit of froth-worthy experiences. I love exploring the backcountry and capturing images of people when they’re at their peak stoke levels. At the end of the day, channeling the human ethos, capturing it in film and sharing that with others inspires me immensely.
I’m proud to be a frequent, documented donor with my time, my income and my media to registered, 501(C)(3) organizations who stand to protect our environment, such as the Native Fish Society, Redd Fish Restoration Society, and others.
